history
The story of BLAM! begins with one
server and a group of friends playing COD 2, so let us begin there. Pay
attention there will be a
quiz.
Call of Duty
2
In the summer of 2007, Shred and Burn launched "Splatterville", a shotguns only server. Though he was in a clan, Shred wanted to do some experimenting as a server admin and Splatterville was his brainchild. The server was a hit among some of the COD 2 crew of the clan that Shred was in. This COD 2 crew included people like Blitz, Dr. Pepperman, Bullseye, and Staff Sgt. Martin among others. Splatterville's unique full auto shotguns and pistols along with the blood and gore mod created fantastic in your face gameplay that was a fresh change of pace for COD2.
Shred withdrew from that clan in order to pursue Splatterville and BLAM! was born.
Shortly thereafter, Splatterville was renamed [BLAM]Shottyville and was joined by a rifles only server named [BLAM]Rifles. It was during this period that Shottyville began rotating custom maps created by Dr. Pepperman. Also during this period, Pepper determined that the BLAM acronym stood for "Bitches Love Armed Men". This phrase is rarely used today but is considered the default acronym.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
On November 6, 2007 Activision released Call of Duty 4. COD2 was put to rest and BLAM! launched the [BLAM]Kill Zone server, later followed by the London based server [BLAM]Anarchy UK. The servers were moderately successful, though it was clear that they were not going to reach high ranking.
Shipment 24/7 and Bullseye
In December of 2007, the two servers were removed and a new server was configured. Shred felt that the Shipment map captured the anarchy of the Shottyville server so he launched [BLAM]Shipment 24/7.
The server was an overnight success and quickly rose to the top 10% of all servers and the top 100 servers in North America. It remains there as of this writing.
It was during this period that Bullseye rejoined the group. With the addition of Bullseye, the clan had become a legitimate force to be reckoned with. With a firm foundation and a popular server serious recruiting had begun.
Blitz and Bastard Nation
It was during the beginning of 2008 that some of the old friends joined BLAM! Blitz joined and launched the [BLAM]Bastard Nation server. This server became the home base for the TWL team to practice all of the maps in Hardcore. In addition, the extra server enabled the clan to bring in new members from maps other than Shipment. Shipment legends now began cross training on other maps and another piece to the BLAM! asylum falls into place.
TeamWarfare League / Battlefield Practice Server
In the spring of 2008, [BLAM]Dave was promoted to admin and he launched the Battlefield practice server. The server was configured with the Pam 4 mod and became the clan's home for scrims and matches. With this server, the clan was now able to launch two TeamWarfare League teams. These teams included sharpshooters like Bullseye, Blitz and As-Saffa. The teams quickly moved to the top of the ladders. The inception of the TWL teams was the last piece to the BLAM! machine and we were off and running.
The Pig
In the fall of 2008 a farm animal made an appearance on ventrilo. Lets leave it at that.
Call of Duty: World at War
On Veteran's Day, November 11, 2008, Activision / Treyarch released Call of Duty:World at War. BLAM! Subsequently launched (2) COD: World at War servers.
[BLAM]Balanced weapons, was a server with custom settings configured by Blitz. This server was launched the day of the beta version.
[BLAM]Rifles MOD, was a modded bolts server configured by Dr. Pepperman. The Rifles server also included custom maps by Dr. Pepperman. A newly created WAWA map brings back an old school COD2 flavor as well as (2) Dr. Pepperman originals. The server had fantastic game play for the people that crave a good old fashioned 1 shot kill with iron sights.
